GIULIA RICCI at Bartha Contemporary

Go see GIULIA RICCI at Bartha Contemporary

Check out this lovely exhibition of Guilia Ricci and Sarah Chilvers work at Bartha Contemporary25 Margaret Street, London, W1W 8RX. March 18th - May 7th 2016

Giulia Ricci's finely detailed geometrical works use a variety of processes, hand-made and digital drawing, laser engraving, installation and video.

The patterns are inspired by everyday objects made through repetitive processes such as textiles, tiles and mosaics. Drawing underpins her practice across the various media, Giulia's latest hand drawn pieces are stunning.

I met Giulia through a series of exhibitions I designed for the Government Art Collection at the Whitechapel Gallery. I introduced her to laser engraving and in 2012 collaborated with her to produce a piece for The Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition. The edition was a sell-out and led to further editions, two of the pieces can be seen in the current exhibition, including Order/Disruption Painting No.2, see below.

Also worth a visit, Giulia Ricci recently completed her first public commission at 7 Air Street, for The Crown Estate. Giulia piece, ‘The Grammar of Orientation’ adorns the exterior doors and reception desk, linking the exterior of the building with the interior.
